ENRICHMENT:
Class started with you responding to the following journal: What did you think about this chapter?  Did the book go the way you thought it would or did it take a different turn?

You finished your dictionary definitions and sentences for the vocabulary for Chapters 6 & 7.  The rest of class was spent playing a review game for the quiz tomorrow.

LANGUAGE ARTS:
You responded to the following journal and discussed as a class how the characters in the novel were reacting to the actions of True Son.  The journal was: Yesterday, we read about True Son and Gordie trying to go to the Third Mountain to see Corn Blade.  They were intercepted by Uncle Wilse, Mr. Butler and another farmer.  The three men especially Uncle Wilse and Mr. Butler accused True Son of running away and stealing.  Do you think True Son was really running away?  If not, what do you believe he was doing?  If you believe he was running away; why do you think he took Gordie with him?  How do you feel about True Son’s white family, and what are True Son’s feelings towards his family now?

Then you completed day 3 & 4 for DGP 7 before continuing to read The Light in the Forest and defining vocabulary words based on context clues.

There is a DGP quiz on Friday; a study session will be held on Friday, 12/2 at 8:30 in my room.  If your are struggling with the DGP, come and get some help.

LANGUAGE ARTS:
Class was interesting today.  First we had a severe weather warning and had to take cover. Second the iRespond wasn't working properly due to the inclement weather.  Finally, everything came together.  We reviewed the DGP on iRespond, responded to the following journal prompt (Compare and contrast the reactions of Myra Butler (mother), Aunt Kate, and Gordie to True Son upon his return.), completed today's DGP and assigned a newspaper article to be completed in pairs.  If your class didn't get to the newspaper article today, we will work on that tomorrow.  Don't forget there is a study session for the quizzes Friday at 8:15.

ENRICHMENT:
In class today you worked on the comprehension questions for chapters 3 & 4.  Tomorrow we will review those sheets, play a review game for the quiz and write a Cinquain poem if you didn't today.

LANGUAGE ARTS:
Hooray!!! The iRespond review in the DGP power point finally worked like it should.  From what I saw in the results, everyone needs to study the adverbs, the verb information, and the adjective.  Everyone wrote a Cinquain poem after we completed Day 2 of the DGP.  The Cinquain is a five line poem that follows a specific formula.  The students wrote about two different characters from the book in their Cinquain.  All classes finished chapter 6 and completed the reading journal.

There will be a study session for the quizzes in Language Arts this Friday, 11/18 at 8:15 in my room.

Remember the DGP is located on the DGP tab of this web site.  Use this to start studying for Friday's quiz.
