7th grade Winter Party: It is time to get ready for our Winter Break Party. The seventh grade party will be on 12/22 from 3:00 - 3:45. We (the PTSA moms) are asking for a $4.oo donation per student to cover the cost of 2 slices of pizza, a canned soda or bottled water and a treat. You may bring in your money Monday - Wednesday next week (12/19 - 12/21). If you would like to help serve, donate a 12 pack of canned sodas or some baked goods please do so and email Molly Bell gaokie75@hotmail.com. If you know that your child will not be at school for the party, please let child's homeroom teacher know. Thank you in advance and we hope you all have a wonderful well needed winter break! ENRICHMENT: Presentations were given for the final project. All the projects that were given today were very good. All reading logs are due at the beginning of class tomorrow. LANGUAGE ARTS: You took the final exam for The Light in the Forest, and worked on putting your novel folder in order for grading tomorrow. We also heard a few ABR's today. ENRICHMENT: Students finished up their final projects for Someone is Hiding on Alcatraz Island. We will begin presentations tomorrow. Don't forget to bring in your song or e-mail it to me. You will need to explain how this song relates to the book for you. LANGUAGE ARTS: We finished the book today, and as soon as we finished the book students wrote their feelings about the ending of the book. They were not allowed to talk to anyone at the end of the book; they were to write down their feelings about the ending. Then they completed two review sheets for the final exam. The key for the questions is attached to that file below; the key for the crossword are in a new file labeled final crossword key. There is a study session for the final tomorrow morning in my room at 8:20. If you took your novel folder home to study, please be sure to bring it back tomorrow so we can grade it.

ENRICHMENT: Important Dates to Remember: Final Project is due Tuesday, 12/20 don't forget your song must be played in class during your presentation. You can email it to Ms. Hanse as MP3 or bring it on a flash drive. Today because a number of students were out, we worked on the final project with everyone taking turns going to the Media Center to work on a computer. LANGUAGE ARTS: Today we continued with ABR's, and the students received a review sheet and vocabulary crossword to allow them to begin studying for the the final. More Testing 12/15/2011
ENRICHMENT: Students received their graded novel folders back today, and they spent class time working on their final project, that is due on Tuesday. LANGUAGE ARTS: The title says it all - more checkpoint testing today. The final exam over The Lught in the Forest will be next Tuesday, so orchestra students don't have to worry about making it up. ENRICHMENT: Students received their final project today for enrichment. They were also given the final table of contents for their two pocket folder. LANGUAGE ARTS: Today's classes can be summarized in two words "Checkpoint Tests". That is all we did today. Tomorrow will be another day of testing. Then we will be able to finish the book. REMINDER: IF YOU HAVEN'T BROUGHT YOUR ABR IN, EVERYONE'S IS DUE TOMORROW. AFTER TOMORROW, LATE POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM YOUR FINAL SCORE. ENRICHMENT: We finished Someone is Hiding on Alcatraz Island today. The students worked on finishing their last set of dictionary definitions and writing a letter to the father of the main character of the book. Then they worked on finishing their jigsaw puzzle based on the book. Tomorrow they will recieve the final project for enrichment. LANGUAGE ARTS: We read, read, read and read some more today. All classes are now ready to finish The Light in The Forest tomorrow if there is time after they take the checkpoint test. A few ABR's were presented in each class. The final test for our novel will be next Tuesday. No homework tonight, but read the reminder above. I'm Back! 12/12/2011
ENRICHMENT: The students helped me get caught up with them in the book and they predicted how they thought the book would end. They received the vocabulary worksheet for chapters 11 & 12 and completed the guess portion of the vocabulary sheet. Then we read all of chapter 11 and part of chapter 12. We should finish the book tomorrow, and they will recieve their final project for this book on Wednesday, if not tomorrow. LANGUAGE ARTS: Students started presenting ABR's today, and everything I saw today was very good. We will continue presentations throughout the week and into next until everyone has presented. If you want the 10 points extra credit don't forget you need to bring your ABR in tomorrow. All classes continued reading The Light in the Forest. The plan is for us to finish the book this week so the students can take the final exam over this book on Friday. ENRICHMENT: The students read their DEAR books and then they received their graded novel folders back. We read and discussed chapter 8 of Someone is Hiding on Alcatraz Island. LANGUAGE ARTS: Students took DGP 7 quiz and either read their DEAR book and/or completed finding the correct answers for the pop quiz from chapter 9. At the end of class we read chapter 10. ENRICHMENT: You took a quiz over chapters 6 & 7 before making a prediction about the rest of the book. Students then completed their guesses for the vocabulary for chapters 8 - 10. Mrs. Hanse surprised you with a pop quiz over chapter 9 of The Light in the Forest. After you completed the pop quiz, you looked up the answers to the quiz and recorded the correct answer and page number on a sheet of notebook paper. The two grades will be averaged together for your final grade on the quiz. HW tonight define the 10 vocabulary words for chapters 5 - 10 and study for your DGP quiz. Bring a DEAR book tomorrow.
