Language Arts Collaboration Day Tomorrow 10/19/2011
Tomorrow is the Language Arts collaboration day. I will be in the building, but I will not be in the classroom. So, I will try to include some of tomorrow's work on today's blog. ENRICHMENT: WEDNESDAY: Students responded to the following journal prompt: What makes a good mystery or suspense story? Then we discussed the words that are unique to mysteries and they circled any of the those unique words that they used in their journal. Finally, we discussed different mysteries they have read and/or seen and asked which were their favorite and why. They also had to identify the elements of a mystery that were used in their favorite mystery or thriller. THURSDAY: Students completed an interactive Wacky-Web (Mad Lib) for warm-up. Then they were given the mystery vocabulary and asked to define each word using the dictionary and write a sentence for each word. Bring a DEAR book for silent reading on Friday. LANGUAGE ARTS: WEDNESDAY: Because I will be out tomorrow, we completed days 3, 4, and 5 of the DGP today. This will allow everyone an extra day to study everything. There will be a DGP study session on Friday, 10/21 at 8:30. Everyone worked on and completed their Pronoun Pizzas in class today; if you didn't finish in class, then it is homework. THURSAY: The students responded to the following journal: What makes you brave? (pg 72 of literature book) The work session included the following: completing Vocabulary in Context on page 73 in the literature book. Students were to write 8 sentences reusing the bold faced word. This assignment was turned in to the substitute. The rest of the period was spent reading the story "Riki Tiki Tavi" pg. 75 - 88 in the literature book. They probably won't finish the story on Thursday, so we will finish it at the beginning of class on Friday. There will be a few comprehension questions to answer on Friday via iRespond. Don't forget the DGP study session on Friday, 10/21 at 8:30 and the DGP quiz on Friday. Comments Comments are closed. |
